Today, as I enjoyed my lazy Sunday afternoon, full of junk food and even junkier television, I was ever so fortunate as to stumble across a personal favorite of mine-- Deep Blue Sea. For anyone not familiar with this classic, and iconic piece of cinematography, the general premise is that genetically modified sharks declare mutiny and work to escape from the scientific facilities. Better yet, this isn't Sea World we're talking about. This is a multi-level, underwater, isolated facility. Oh, and to make things better, that genetic engineering is against the law.
*Now here is where my geek out comes into play*
Pretend the genetic modification wasn't performed on sharks...but on people. What do you get? BIOSHOCK. I dunno, maybe it's just me. But come on?!
- Multi-Level underwater community
- Isolated in the middle of the ocean
- Started by a scientist who isn't in a particularly sound state of mind
- Genetically modified parties mutiny and overrun aforementioned community
Just a thought.
I don't think that the modified parties would be inclined to stay secluded in their isolation, however sci-fi their city might be. Once they overthrow the mad scientist leadership I would expect them to at the least branch out and explore their surroundings, and depending on how educated they are about the rest of the world, reach out to established civilization.
